History

FTUI Institute for Urban Planning and Smart City (IUPSC) is an Institute that is oriented to produce professionals and academics who are able to plan smart city-based cities, based on urban economic development (economic regional development), as well as providing international collaborations.

IUPSC prioritizes the ability to plan smart city-based cities as a form of response and support to Government programs, including the 100 Smart Cities program proposed by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The definition of a smart city is a city that uses information and communication technology to improve operational efficiency, information with the public, and the quality of services between government and citizens.

The FTUI Institute for Urban Planning and Smart City (IUPSC), which focuses on technical competence, has become an institute under interdisciplinary engineering education and research unit (UP2IK) that compiles teaching and research in the field of urban planning from various departments in FTUI. This multidisciplinary characteristic is related to the fourth point of the University of Indonesia’s goal, namely to encourage and strengthen the development of existing sciences, as well as new sciences and studies in monodisciplinary, multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary fields in order to answer the challenges of life’s increasingly complex problems.
